Today's my last day of studying for finals paper..
tomorrow's my last paper...IT...
Well, I skipped too many classes due to Prom...ish...
By the time Prom finish, after 2 weeks, my lecturer left us..which was 3 weeks back.
then..I'm all on my own, studying things I dun know..programming la, network la, bla..bla...bla...ISH!!!

best part is, I dun have notes for 2 chapters...somehow my lecturer doesn't have enough, so, I jz took some picture of the notes from my fren...
and studying IT in front of my PC is jz too weird.

After tomorrow, I would have my freedom!!!
Am going for eagle eyes with my college frens..

My Sem break resolution.

Last sem break was a 3 weeks break.

After this sem, I really have to say, I have to appreciate my sem break.
I remember during my last sem break, I finally got my DSLR.
Have my first experience shooting models.


Went to Penang Hill with my college friends, and we had our first lala pose..OMG!!!

A 5 weeks sem break...yaya, can do more than previous sem.

went hiking, badminton, swimming and lots of other fun stuff with my frens.

Well, last sem break was so damn unforgettable.

Anyway, am gonna make another FULAMAK unforgettable sem break.
here's the list of wanted to do list.

1.Brush up my photography skills.(didn't touch my cam for 2 weeks d.)
2.Brush up my flash skills..(Camera flash...not flash as in ahem*)
3.Go some water park thingy with my college friends.
4.Go photo shooting everywhere.
5.Shooting a wedding
6.Shooting for blogger's meeting 2008.
7.Wanna start a photograhy club in PTPL college.
8.Hiking, badminton, Swimming with college frens.
9.study at least 2 chapters for every subject I'm taking next sem.

As for my photos to do list.
1.I wan 5 unbelievable, no one did- b4 type of abstract photos.
2.Am gonna use flash to make shots people never seen before.
3.Learning to get a "CharlesKey" style portrait shooting .
4.Wanna take 4 Unbelievable scenery photos.
5.Did anyone remember lomography?Yea, I want 3 unbelievable lomo shots.

that's all for my sem break resolution.
Am gonna really use this sem break to learn all I can..
because when sem starts, I'll not have that kind of time anymore.

Recently, my 3 year old handphone finally malfunction and decided to leave me.
Which is such a great news to me.
Got myself a new phone with 3G features...too bad, no one to call.

Anyway, this phone comes with a 2mp cmos camera...hmm...which means...I have access to camera anywhere and everywhere.haha...

being CharlesKey, the guy that is worst than kid, and mouliu.... he loves taking photo of rubbish..

For example, I got so stupid and my motor went into longkang...OMG!!!I damn stupid wei...

Sweat case..

How sweat can you be? Or rather how free can you be?
Being CharlesKey the guy that people called "worst than a kid" guy..
Yea, Ralph actually said that I'm worst than a kid...LOL...

I was kinda bored after studying for finals,
came out with this idea of sms-ing my friends, asking them to turn on their bluetooth...LOL...


First, I sent a few smses to my friends....asking them to buka bluetooth...
*alert*Their location is at least 5-10KM from my place..





Then Emily and Sherlyn replied me, telling me tht it is impossible to use bluetooth if both side is far apart...



Okie, tht's all for my swt case...back to study....

Models.

Haven't being shooting real professional models since few months back during Nikon Workshop.
Don't really fancy shooting event as I do not really know how to control the lighting and my flash.

Besides, we can't really do much fanciful things during an event,
we have to shoot what is given.
Only one chance,
There's no such thing as retake.

Squeezing among those kepoh lao-ee is kinda tough..
I wonder why those lao-ee, not taking photo also wanna kepoh stand on the front and kakacaucau we take photos.
people these days are really inconsiderate.

Aperture 2.2, ngam ngam not too blur.
Shuttle speed at 1/200 to make sure background goes dark.

Exam fever.

Exam is starting next week, after that is SEM BREAK!!!!

Have been struggling these 3 weeks for exam, thx to me skipping too many classes.
Thx to Prom, I skipped at least 6 classes which almost killed me.

We have our study group,
till now I still dunno whether it's effective or not, but for sure, it's better than previous sem where I talk from 10am to 6pm...not studying a single thing.
This sem, I however have to control myself, bought a disposable MP3 so that I wouldn't talk..



So far, had finished 3 subjects, 2 to go..whew...exam is 5 days from now..

Monday was great, Tuesday wasn't.
Me and my college friends went for the Mamamia premiere screening.
well, it certainly is not as great as what KL is having though.

I could estimate around 60-70% of the people for tht premiere are senior citizen, their children got them the ticket,
So I wouldn't say that this is a blogger's gathering, instead, a reunion of senior citizen...LOL..

Well, not to say that I'm insulting or anything, but this was supposed to be a blogger's gathering ma...that's why if compared to KL, Penang tarak syok..

The movie itself is great, though it might be a lil too much, but overall it's a great movie.

PTPL's toilet finally got sign d...LOL!!!

Introducing the toilet sign to indicate male/female toilet...LOL...

When I first came in to PTPL college, there's no sign indicating whether it's a toilet or male/female..
I was so afraid that I might accidentally bump into the ladies...then I sure GONG HEI FATT CHOY d...!!!haha



Anyway, I did saw a girl went in to the male toilet once...ahem*...maybe she lupa kot...
and also one time at night, I saw a female part time lecturer went in...ahem*....also confused...
I bet the males shud kena went in the female toilet b4...LOL...
Bet they had their "Gong Hei Fatt Choy"...LOL...
Still wondering whether they did that on purpose or wht?hmm...dunno...LOL

But I always wondered, since the male & female toilet is separated so so far, let's say, this female is in a class near the male toilet, will she be lazy enough and rather go to the male's toilet? Vise-Versa.well, I heard b4 ppl saying, but whether is it just some gossip? or does things like this really happens?

After weeks of busy-ness, I'm still busy...lol...I'm damn random..
My finals is around the corner,
have to complete an assignment on Durex marketing plan by tonight.
hmmm..Durex...damn interesting company for assignment...*not gonna write any review for Durex*LOL!!!

Anyway, yesterday, went to the candlelight vigil in Gurney drive,
took some event shots...not satisfied, I never fancy events photography..dunno y..
only till the end only I got my favourite shot, which is fire from 6 burning candle.
that looks like a fire torch.

Has been a long time since I last shoot something seriously,
too much of college...
After finals, Am sure gonna play like hell!!!!

Last week was hectic, having quizes non-stop..
rushing assigment up & down.

even had the worst burger in my life..
Hass suggested Big Mac, then I tried,
*feel like vomit* it's darn lousy, maybe tht McD thr only like tht la..

Then I even drew stuff on my management quiz...OMG!!
My frens were shocked...wht to do..I do know how to put it down in words ma..so ma draw lor..

then we had our little tanglung night at Sherlyn/Emily's place.
Initial plan was Taman Quary near Botanical garden, but too dark d...(besides got a lot gay ppl thr,....*takut*)After kena sotong mee...LOL...
we bought 20 boxes of candles...thinking of burning down the whole place...LOL..

Candid Shot

I just love taking candid shots..
Since this semester started, I haven't had the mood to really sit down and snap a photo,
so stress with everything..
Though I've being bringing my Camera a.k.a. my wife everywhere, and shot quite some number of photos, but it seems that I'm not really into it, jz taking some casual shots...ish..

Last Thursday, went Gurney with HuiZhen for dinner before our next class, then we meet up with her friends,
Her friends are really nice.

we went Winter warmers to get something to drink, chit chat a lil,
Then I started taking her friend's candid shot.
While her fren is talking in the phone.



Candid shot jz give me a sense of satisfaction,
because it i very very natural,
no one is posing or acting in front of yr cam.

This time, I made it b&w because I jz feel like it,
Feels that this shot needs some boosting by using strong contrasting colors*b&w is colors also ma*.

The above photo was shot using my 50mm 1.8 lens which minus the distractions from the back and enhanced the subject in the front.
One thing important about portraiture is the technique u used to make yr subject stand out,
Of cz, using a 50mm lens would be a shortcut..(mentioned before I even had DSLR..)

You know what I like about portraiture?
It's the reaction you see when the person sees his/her photo,
The joy, the laughter and every single emotions on his/her face .
It's jz priceless.

Talk in USM

Last week, Minny invited me to USM to give a talk on photography and teach in the future.
This is actually a good opportunity for me, cz before we start our photography club in PTPL,
get some experience by teaching and helping over there first.

This will be my first time giving a talk..
and let's hope I dun panic.

I still haven't figure out what to say for my opening and closing..hmm, 6 more hours and I'll be there giving my talk and I'm not fully prepared yet...ish..

Basically I'll be talking about all sorts of photography,
ranging from Abstracts, smoke, water, nature, scenery, macro, flower, night, portraiture and lomograph photography.

ish, better go prepare first...LOL

Air Itam Dam

Yesterday, Me, my dad and Caven went Air Itam Dam for photo shoot...
haven't been up there for 5-6 years..

We also finish walking the whole round there.
and encounter different things.

first, we met a snake..
didn't manage to snap a pix, cz we were all terrified.

Then we saw ants that are 1 inches long..or big..something like that la..
Then we saw this 20+cm millipede..
OMG!!!really never such a long and big millipede..



hehe, it first gulung, cz I kacau-ed it,
we actually waited 5 minutes, and it's still roled up, so Caven went tickle the legs and body..hahah
Even used my hand as a measurement kit..LOL...

Millipede is" fire train worm" in chinese...LOL



Then we saw this little river
This is the first time of me taking river water succesfully.




Used Shutter speed of 6second, Aperture F36. Handheld..(This one must state one, show off ma...LOL...*ahem**Syok sendiri di*...*)

So happy, today gonna give a talk in USM on Photography...whee!!

Distortion

Below shots are not edited or photoshop or anything,
It's a lens trick.

Last Thursday, after lunch while waiting for the next class,
we decided to take out my camera, using my 18-55mm kitlens and external flash to play some trick...hehe

Then I started to stand on the table..(dear lecturers & management, pls dun be mad, I got use tissue to clean up then dust..lol)
Then start putting my camera vr vr near their face and start shooting.
Also put in my big big flash to get enough lights..hehe


Jason, Tannie and Sherlyn suddenly got this idea, instead of individual, we get 2 person to sit on the floor...

We had a lot of fun on that day, whew...
I love my frens,

Prom

It has being a week since Prom,
and life have being changing a lil bit in college.

I already know my results for my mid-term and if I really work hard, I can still maintain my CGPA at 3.67..well, have being trying to catch up since prom.
That explains why I blog lesser each day..

Photos were supposed to be on notice board 2-3 days before the prom, but dunno what happened in between, they decided not to put it up.
I skipped 5 classes for the sake of this photoshoot...and it's not on the board..

For the sake of these photoshoot, I have to put up 1 layer of concealer and 3 layers of foundation..
Whew, guess what, after the photoshoot, pimples pop out like mad...LOL

Anyway, on tht night itself, I got 1 layer concealer and 4 layers of foundation, Oh shit, I killed my skin...

2008 PTPL Prom night

This is the surprise..hehe

Yesterday was the biggest day of my life,
Going to a prom night for the first time of my life and joining prom King makes me even more nervous.
another thing is, I haven't had so much make up on my face before,
Fulamak, 1 layer of concealer, then 4 layers of foundation, then one layer blusher..
FULAMAK!!!, Now pimple all keluar d...haha



We started the evening with shoutout family photo..

We started the night with a simple opening dance.
Then we had our individual performance by each King and Queen.
Finally we had our evening wear session.
after that is our Q&A..haha..
and so surprisingly, I kena this question "What would you do for PTPL if you are the Prom King?"
I was so nervous, "Well, I've planned to start a photography club in PTPL, and I hope you guys can support us. With that, we can share our knowledge in photography."

(oh..oh...this reminds me that I still haven't wrote my proposal to start a photography club...hehe...)

After that, we finally had the chance to eat d...
but but.....food all habis d...LOL!!!
Had lots of cam whore with my friends.

Then finally, when the moment had arrived,
They began announcing the King and Queen..
Whew...It certainly scared me like hell, was nervous.

Same technique used as the previous photo,
Make aperture smaller, shutter higher, then flash around almost full power.

Color balance-5000k
Use neutral WB cz u wanna retain the original color of the lalang.

If u wanna get the effect I got in this picture, make sure yr background is as dark color as possible,
and make sure the background is far.

Btw, am having a surprise for you guys on Sunday.

Blue Black

Gotta know my results d, kinda screwed up,
but will try harder.

Anyway, was having a long chat with HAss yesterday,
and realised that, I left photography too long,
wasn't really serious in it since I started this semester.

Today, after class I went jogging with my dad,
then I was thinking, this time, I have to restrict myself to only 50mm lens,
no kit lens throughout the whole session,
took around 40 photos today, and got 3 nice ones,
picked one, and it's here now..hehe..

Finally I produced something again ..LOL..

Am gonna be very serious in my photography and my studies.
Am gonna spend extra effort for my photography.
Am gonna spend more time to master my flash as soon as possible.
Am gonna use my 50mm like mad too.



For the shot above,
Color balance - 4000, cz the sky is quite blue d,
If too low color balance, then my subject will be blueish too.

Technique above used were a vr common one,
Set yr shutter high, then yr background will be dark, then use flash to fill up yr subject at the front.
simple theory.

will be coming up with more photos soon.

Finally exam's over

This time, I did screw up with my mid term.
I screw up my entrepreneur paper cz I didn't have enough effort in doing further research in the extra books.
I screw up my accounts paper cz I still can't understand the question, till now, even u give me my notes, I still can't do it.
I also screw up my IT paper, Thanks to lack of attention in class or rather too much of attention seeking....

I shall do something to correct my mistakes,
I need to score my finals to cover up everything.

I'm gonna double or even triple up the time spend on books.

In the mean time,
do enjoy my Ah boon and Babykia's cuteness...hehe



At least got both of them with me along my bumpy road..

Finally learn my lesson, work hard is not the key..work super hard only is the key.
Am gonna work harder for the next 7 weeks and gonna score like mad for my finals!!
Am gonna be busy like hell...

I saw this style of photo in flickr once a month ago..
That time I promise myself, I'll sure find a way no matter what, I'm sure gonna find a way to make this happen..
Well, finally, suddenly have this inspiration this evening while studying for mid-term..
I ran to my PC, and started by opening my photoshop..took the photo I shot of the court house infront of dewan sri pinang.

Tried for about 40 minutes, finally got it.
Just a simple 3 steps...in fact, in 2 minutes you should be able to have this kind of photo too.
It's so simple, jz click 3 kinds of things, then can d..whew..
Well, it finally paid off.



As for this shot..
I took this shot about 7 weeks back when I first got my DSLR,
Was riding my bike around Penang, trying to get something to shoot.
Finally that court house shot did paid off..hehe..

As for the settings for this photo..
ISO100
White balance-daylight
Color balance-5200k

Using 18-55mm kit lens,
In this case, use kit lens, so that you can get a very nice distorted effect photo.

Anyway, me is back to study now, cz Mid term exam is starting tomorrow, am gonna study like mad...after that...WHEW!!!AM SO GONNA GO BEACH WITH MY COLLEGE FRENS!!!
